The introductory meeting of the TEKNOFEST Aviation, Space and Technology Festival, which is among the most important science, technology and space festivals in the world and will be hosted in Istanbul in September, was held.
The introductory meeting of TEKNOFEST 2021 was held at Atatürk Airport, with the participation of Istanbul Governor Ali Yerlikaya, Deputy Minister of Industry and Technology and TEKNOFEST Chief Executive Officer M. Fatih Kacır, President of the Presidency Defense Industry İsmail Demir, Chairman of the TEKNOFEST Board of Directors and the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the T3 Foundation Selçuk Bayraktar and representatives of stakeholder institutions.
At the introductory meeting of TEKNOFEST, which hosts hundreds of thousands of participants every year and aims to raise awareness in the field of technology and science, Governor Yerlikaya, Deputy Minister Kacır, Defense Industry President Demir and TEKNOFEST BoD Chairman Bayraktar gave speeches to the participants.
Governor Yerlikaya: "We Are Supporting Turkey's Future From Istanbul."
Speaking at the introductory meeting of the festival, Governor Yerlikaya said that TEKNOFEST gained a global identity in 3 years and continued his speech as follows: "It has become one of the most important science, technology and space festivals within the world. And it returned where it first started; to Istanbul. We are very happy and excited to host this giant organization in Istanbul once again in 2021. Hosting TEKNOFEST has many other meanings and importance for us."
Stating that Turkey hosts projects that will strengthen the national technology move, Governor Yerlikaya continued as follows: "We are dreaming of the future, we are supporting the future of Turkey from Istanbul, the capital city of our civilization. Turkey, under the leadership of our President, has made its choice. We are in the race. We say "count us in" for science, technology and space. We are in arm wrestling with the best."
Governor Yerlikaya underlined that TEKNOFEST is investing in the future of Turkey and stated as follows: "The enthusiasm of the festival, which offers more competitors the opportunity to compete in more categories every year, increases the number of its stakeholders, and which hundreds of thousands of young people from every province and 84 countries apply to, exceeds Turkey and spreads all over the world. TEKNOFEST, which will be held for the 4th time at Atatürk Airport in September, is instrumental for our country to undertake important tasks in aviation, satellite and space studies with the spirit and excitement it has brought."
Stating that the festival participants will be the most important entrepreneurs of Turkey and the world in the near future, Governor Yerlikaya stated that he believes that the successes in UAVs and UCAVs will be experienced in flying cars, artificial intelligence and in every subject in this regard. Governor Yerlikaya ended his speech by thanking everyone who contributed to the festival.
"We Want Our Students to Work For The Future of Our Country"
In his speech at the introductory meeting, Deputy Minister Kacır stated that the festival breaks the record of visitors and contestants every year and stated that they will put the TEKNOFEST Career Portal into practice in the upcoming period. Kaçır underlined that they will always be with the contestant students on their career journey.
Stating that Atatürk Airport will be the center of TEKNOFEST this year, but they will organize competitions in various parts of the country, Kacır continued his speech as follows: "We attach great importance that our universities become our stakeholders. We want our university students to work for the future of our country. We would like to see them in TEKNOFEST competitions and R&D projects in laboratories. Our universities gave us the greatest support until this day. Every year, new universities join the TEKNOFEST family. This year, 19 different universities are our stakeholders in TEKNOFEST."
"We must continue to work hard and produce without stopping"
Presidency Defense Industry President Demir expressed his gratitude for being a stakeholder of TEKNOFEST, an organization that contributes to the national technology move.
Stating that the festival will excite young people with the activities that will set the agenda this year, Demir continued as follows: "TEKNOFEST is preparing a ground that will enable the emergence of actors who will play a leading role in revealing many factors that will contribute to the more effective existence of Turkey which is already developing and strengthening. "We must continue to work hard and produce without stopping to reach the vision of global power with the energy we get from our generation."
"We aim to increase the Human Resources of Turkey"
Selçuk Bayraktar, the Chairman of the TEKNOFEST Board of Directors and the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the T3 Foundation, stated that the TEKNOFEST journey, which started as a dream, has now turned into a global organization.
In his speech Bayraktar stated as follows: "This year we will have competitions in 35 different categories, some of which we will carry out for the first time. We aim to increase the interest in technology and science in our society and to raise the human resources trained in the fields of science and engineering in Turkey. We want to support the efforts to develop national technology in every field from rocket to autonomous systems, from agriculture to underwater systems, from biotechnology to technologies for the benefit of humanity. In TEKNOFEST 2021, we aim to organize a wide range of rich activities such as aviation and acrobatic shows, surprise competitions, exhibitions, trainings and the International Initiative Summit, where investors and initiatives will meet, again at Atatürk Airport, to the extent permitted by the pandemic."

TEKNOFEST, under the leadership of the Turkey Technology Team Foundation (T3 Foundation) and the Ministry of Industry and Technology, will be held in Istanbul on 21-26 September in its fourth year with 67 stakeholder institutions, including Turkey's leading technology companies, public institutions, media organizations and universities.
Thousands of qualified young people from all levels from primary school to secondary school, high school, university, undergraduate students and graduates will be able to apply to TEKNOFEST Technology Competitions until February 28, which will be held in different categories.
