In 2011, Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar Literature Museum Library was opened to visitors in the Historical Parade Pavilion, which was used by sultans to watch the parades during the reign of Mahmud II in 1819.
Stating that the Literature Museum Libraries are areas that contain both historical and contemporary works, Acar said, "The original prints, copies of the manuscripts, and the special belongings used by some writers constitute our museum dimension. Our library dimension consists of all literary works, literary magazines and award winning works collected under the main heading ‘Turkish Literature".
At the entrance of Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar Museum Library, there is a reading room where the publications of TEDA (Project for Supporting the Publication of the Works of Turkish Culture, Art and Literature in other Languages) are displayed.
There are areas in the entrance, where personal belongings of the writer Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar and the writer Yahya Kemal Beyatlı, the journalists Doğan Hızlan and Çetin Altan are exhibited, and a room where books of Orhan Pamuk, a Nobel Prize-winning author, and books of Nedim are shown.

Tuncay Doğan, a Librarian, said, "There are a total of 9 thousand 21 books in the library belonging to more than one thousand authors. These are city books, books of authors who lived in Istanbul, award-winning Turkish books, Nobel Prize-winning books, TEDA books and autographed books donated by authors.” He added that the number of magazines found in the library were updated every year. There are 55 magazines in the library.
On the lower floor of the Museum Library, there is a showcase where copies of manuscripts are displayed, a café designed as a place to relax for visitors, a piano that visitors can play on request, and an area where the first and last issues of the old magazines are displayed, and events are organized.
In addition to its services as a library, Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar Literature Museum Library is open to all researchers and readers, regardless of working hours, and hosts events such as conversations on literature, culture, art, history, philosophy, music, painting, and scientific meetings, and art activities.
Tanpınar Conferences are Held in the Museum
Doğan who stated the Library is hosting many events such as Istanbul International Literature Festival, International Poetry and Literature Festival, said, “The opening of Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar Literary Practices and Research Center and Tanpınar Conferences in which authors such as Yavuz Bülent Bakiler, Enis Batur and Jale Parla participated, were held in our library. In 2018, we organized 87 activities in which a total of 3 thousand 982 people participated. In the first six months of 2019, we organized 37 activities with the participation of 1,934 people. ”
Pointing out that 40,000 people visited the museum library in 2018, Dogan said, "We are expecting everybody here if they wish to follow the traces of Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar, who lived in Istanbul and wrote the famous 'Clock-Setting Institute',' Peace' and 'Five Cities' and other leading writers and poets who lived in Istanbul, to participate in international events and benefit from many historical and contemporary sources.”
Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar Literature Museum Library which you can visit between 8.30-20.30 every day except Sunday, in the Historical Parade Pavilion, allows you to look at Istanbul through the eyes of the writers.
