Nowruz is being celebrated as a holiday in many different cultures since the early ages of humanity. Author Erhan Altunay states as follows regarding this day celebrated on March 21, "I see Nowruz as a special day that always unites people."
The arrival of spring is being celebrated in various ways with the Equinox, which takes place in many parts of the world since ancient times. Author Erhan Altunay, who describes Nevruz as a spring festival, a special day states as follows:
“Think about the first humans… all their purpose was to survive. They had to stock grains in winter. They had to use all the grain they grew sparingly. And when spring came, there would be hunting again, there would be agriculture again and they would be able to fill up again. This change of calendar and the opening of this season have always been celebrated by the old agricultural societies. This should not be seen as a religious belief, a religion or a superstition." and he points out that Nowruz is an agricultural day that is based on the inclination of the earth's axis and the existence of seasons.
"Nowruz is a Special Day Uniting People"
Highlighting that Nowruz has a different role in every society, culture and language since ancient times, Author Altunay continues his words as follows;
"It's actually a very beautiful day that unites people in a common ground. We Turks have always loved Nowruz a lot. That's why we made it the New Year's Eve in the Traditional Turkish Calendar. It has been the subject of many festivals and legends.
Nowruz occurred in all Turkish communities. They said 'Nowruz, Nowruz Sultan'. Kyrgyz, Kazakhs, and Azeri Turks celebrate it as well. We celebrate in a different way in Anatolia. That's why I always see Nowruz as a special day that unites people.
Nowruz Festival is a spring celebration of geography for me. In Turkish spring celebrations, on days such as Hıdırellez, we always start the new year, the new period, the new agricultural year with a good wish.
In fact, our biggest first wish should be hoping that it would be a good agricultural year. Let's save up good grain for the next winter. Let the product not be wasted, let there be rain and abundance. May blessings come to our lives, too." and wishes all humanity to live in peace around the world.
