5th Ethnosport Culture Festival has Started
With honoring of the Minister of Youth and Sports Mehmet Kasapoğlu, and the participation of Governor of İstanbul Ali Yerlikaya, the 5th Ethnosport Culture Festival started with the opening ceremony that was held in Atatürk Airport People’s Garden.
Minister of Youth and Sports Mehmet Kasapoğlu, Governor of İstanbul Ali Yerlikaya, Chairman of World Ethnosport Confederation Bilal Erdoğan, city and district protocol, students, and a great number of guests attended the opening of the organization which included more than 1000 attendees in the fields of sport, art, culture, and gastronomy from 26 countries.
The festival started with a janissary band performance, Minister of Youth and Sports Kasapoğlu, Governer Yerlikaya, Chairman of World Ethnosport Confederation Erdoğan, each gave a speech addressing the attendees.
“It is an Significant Occasion that Helps Societies Get Closer.”
Mr. Kasapğolu started his speech by stating that they have been showing great effort to keep the sports branches alive and popularize them an “Organizing this event which has become the world's most comprehensive and largest participation festival in traditional sports branches with even more enthusiasm this year gives an excitement to us and fill us with pride.
This festival which takes place with hundred thousands of visitors from tens of countries and that has been hosted by World Ethnosport Confederation since 2016 strengthens our bonds of unity and brotherhood with the unifying power of traditional sports. Thus, it is a meaningful opportunity to increase the communication between the societies” he added.
“Sports as the Universal Language of Peace Clears Off the Differences”
Governor Yerlikaya stated that the Ethnosport Festival transfers the story of these lands to the next generations by turning it into a celebration and he added, “This organization takes away the differences with the help of the sport, the universal language of peace, and develops the awareness of coexistence. Our children and youth are our future and each of them is a flower to bloom, they will follow the trace of a great civilization and experience our traditional sports and ancient cultural values with this Festival. More than 1 million visitors will witness an unforgettable feast for 4 days free of charge.” in his speech.
“We Establish Close Connections With Our Traditions”
In his speech Chairman of the World Ethnosport Confederation Erdoğan said “We are happy to accomplish to organize the 5th Ethnosport Culture Festival. We reach out to our roots and colorful world cultures and establish a special connection with our traditions. We will find traces from our childhood, traditions, and different cultures of the world.” and finished his words.
Following the speeches, a parade including the kökbörü sports team, sportsmen of traditional sports branches, Kazakhstan Team of Wrestling on Horseback, and Karabakh Horse Show Team took place.
